Find Truth:
The Truth given to us in scripture is the content that our minds uses to be renewed by, however, it can be difficult to know what verse to “think upon” because the Bible is not written categorically. So the first thing Truth Finder does is attempt to categorize key verses from scripture so we can focus in on the Truth that pertains to a specific area of our life that we want to address. For instance, worry and anxiety plague millions of people and the Truth of God has the power to transform us, and Truth Finder directs us to verses that pertain to worrry.
Personalize Truth:
John Maxwell first taught me to “pray the scriptures” when I was in my twenties (ok, quite a while ago). Praying scripture is simply personalizing God’s Truth to our own lives. Probably the most powerful aspect of Truth Finder is that all the verses are already personalized. When we read scripture it’s easy to read as if it applies to everyone else…but not us. But when we read Truth directly into our lives, it changes the focus…significantly. For instance, James 5:16 says “confess your sins to each other”, however, if instead, I read “I confess my sins to others”, all of a sudden, the Message is focused like a lazer. Now God is talking directly about me…to me.
Think Truth:
Once you Find Truth and Personalize Truth that focus directly to your life, the most critical step is next. You must Renew Your Mind! Believe it or not this is the easiest AND most challenging part of the process. We must get the Truth into our minds. We must read Truth into our minds 3, 4, 5, 10 times day. We must saturate our minds with what is True. If you don’t, transformation will not occur regardless of your human effort and work. There are a number of ways to get Truth written down so you drench your mind in it many times a day. Truth Finder allows you to Print Truth, Email a PDF to yourself or others, share with Myspace, Facebook etc. and even use a messenger like AIM to get Truth out!
Commenting Truth:
As you use Truth Finder the Truth will impact you in numerous ways and sometimes the impact will be significant. As the Truth moves you please “let us in on it”. Truth Finder allows you to add comments to any of the verses that you select. Please celebrate and share the “ah-hah” moments that you experience as you read or renew your mind on Truth. Some of these comments will pertain to internal revelatory moments and other comments will pertain to a specific situations or circumstances in your life. Please share the hope and support you are given by responding to the Truth by adding comments. We want to hear about and be a part of what God is doing in your life.
The Message:
Eugene Peterson’s wisdom has perpetuated a fresh way of communicating God’s Truth in today’s idiom thru the paraphrased version of the Bible called “The Message”. Truth Finder uses “The Message” to support the personalized Truth statements that are displayed. Truth Finder personalizes the verses from “The Message” so, of course, they don’t match the exact words of “The Message”, however, a link is provided in each Truth statement back to Biblegateway.com refering specifically to ”The Message”.
